Questionnaire RESULTS

After a group of 200ish 16-18 year olds watched my finished music video during an assembly whilst filling out my questionnaire, I am able to see their anonymous replies to the questions. Here are the results:

Obviously the music video isn’t going to be everybody’s taste! But atleast no one said they didn’t like it at all! Which is a good thing ๐Ÿ™‚ It was evident that the majority of the people who answered yes, were females, and I suppose the relationship plot is probably appreciated more by females.

It seems like a fairly split decision! I’m really pleased with this because I concentrated on all aspects of the music video in accordance with the plot, the camera shots and the use of colour. So I’m really pleased that all of them were evident and the audience could see these elements.

Obviously at some point, some people are going to disagree and I completely understand this as it’s not perfect! I think the verses match in time with the music video, and I used foot tapping in accordance with the drums, and I made sure the cycles entered the shot at the particular slide in the bass riff, but in the second chorus, where it should be up beat, it was all put into slow motion to distinguish the flashbacks, but I suppose this could’ve been improved.

At least no one said ‘not at all’ so at least the narrative was coming across partly or mostly to everyone! Obviously my whole storyboarding plot and narrative changed completely, and due to time constraints and being realistic in terms of filming certain things, so my beginning idea would’ve made so much more sense if I went through with it. But I tried my hardest to make the plot clearer by dividing the scenes between friendship and relationships and not crossing them.

It was fairly split that there was either a partly or yes, with a few not at alls. But I definitely understand this. Although I feel I definitely represented youth and relationships, I think I lacked a little on the fashion shots. I did show, leather boots, converse boots, leopard print coat, beaded necklace, tartan knitwear and union jack jumpers, but perhaps it wasn’t evident enough throughout the whole video, only very subtle.

Again, I understand this because perhaps I shouldn’t have put some shots in slow motion when the chorus is quite up-beat.

This… I completely disagree with. I know the majority said I did include plenty of shots, but the ‘could’ve been a little more’, I don’t think is fair. I actually concentrated on using EVERY possible shot in the history of media, with what equipment we had… I featured 30 different types of shot and movement, so perhaps they weren’t focusing too much and missed that aspect…

Although it is important to take constructive criticism, I must say I think some of the comments and answers are completely false, and this is because they aren’t media students and possibly won’t understand, I apply this to when a few people said there weren’t many camera shots or variety of surroundings, when in fact, I used about 20 different shots and in 3 different locations. It was fairly a split decision between ‘yes’ and ‘partly’ answers. And I noticed that the partly section were mostly 16 year old males, whereas 17-18 year old males and definitely all females tended to love the music video. The comment about the lip-synching is completely false, because not only did everyone else agree that it was definitely in synch but I spent hours making sure it was all lined up in time. I agree that perhaps the friendship shots looked a little OTT and forced, but we were all trying really hard to get across that we were having a great time, and Rob may have looked a little less enthusiastic because I wanted to make him look heartbroken, but obviously none of us are actors or actresses but we tried our best to get the point across! And on the most part, people enjoyed it and got the point of the music video ๐Ÿ™‚

Questionnaire!

Now that I’ve successfully completed my music video, YAAAY!! It’s time to start getting feedback from other people. So this Friday in assembly, my video along with a few others, will be shown to the whole of Sixth Form, which is about 200 people ranging from 16-18 years old, which is not only the average target audience for the band, but it means that we will receive mature comments from young enough people to be into the whole music scene. So here is my questionnaire!

Chelsey’s Questionnaire

Identity Questions :)

In class today, our teacher told us that aside working to produce our music video, we will also be concentrating on media theory. The theory for A2 is starting with ‘Collective Identity’. So to start us off, we all did a little question and answer task! We were all given 20 questions and we had to write down our answers on a bit of paper. Mine was as follows:

1. Who are you?

I’m just Chelsey.

2. What gender are you?

Female.

3. What is your role in your family?

Daughter.

4. What is your role in your occupation?

Student.

5. Are you funny?

Well I make people laugh, so I should think so ๐Ÿ™‚

6. Are you thoughtful?

Yes, I always look out for the people closest to me ๐Ÿ™‚

7. If you could be any country, what would you be?

I would probably chose New Zealand. Isn’t it like the youngest country? And I’m pretty young, although I’m 18 soon WOOO! ๐Ÿ™‚ but also, I think it’s a really cool place, quirky, but pretty interesting and it looks really nice ๐Ÿ™‚

8. Would you consider yourself as spiritual?

Yep. I’m not an official conformist to any religious as such, but I do have Christian values, and I do believe in like, afterlife, karma, and stuff like that. I’ve been to see mediums, and I find that kinda thing really interesting. I study R.S, and Philosophy & Ethics are my favourite subjects, so yeah I think I am pretty spiritual ๐Ÿ™‚

9. I am unique because…?

I am unique because I am MEEEEE! ๐Ÿ™‚ and everyone in the world is different, no one else in the world will be Chelsey Marie Gillingham and be exactly like I am. Thank god… ๐Ÿ˜›

10. Do you have good taste?

I think I do, but again, this is all down to opinion, another person could believe they have good taste when I disagree.

11. What is your greatest flaw?

I worry. Too much. All the time. I’ve got better in the past year I’d say, but I do worry about a lot of things and I get stressed out easily. But once I get stressed, I’m quite good at dealing with problems and sorting things out more efficiently than if I wasn’t worried or stressed. So it’s probably a good thing after all haha ๐Ÿ™‚

12. What is your role as a UK citizen?

Ummm, just a student really. I don’t think I’ll have a proper role until I’m fully free from all educations and I’m out in the real world. I wish to be a teacher, so my role will be to inspire and educate children, which will be really achieving ๐Ÿ™‚

13. Who else is like you?

No one. I have a couple of traits from my Mum or Dad. But at the end of the day, I’m me, I’m my own person and no one in the entire world will be JUST like me, might be spookily similar but not exact ๐Ÿ™‚

14. Why?

Because I believe everyone’s different. But then again, like is only a word to describe a likeness to something, a similarity between two things, so perhaps in that case I’d say… actually no, I just can’t think of anyone ๐Ÿ˜›

15. If you could be any film, what would you be?

As soppy and cheesy as this is, it’d be The Notebook. I’m a cheesy soppy hopeless romantic. It’s cute, the acting and storyline is great, I love the lighting and imagery in the film, and I just think it’s loooovely ๐Ÿ™‚

16. What colour would you be?

I would say like a salmon peachy pink! Because it’s my favourite colour ๐Ÿ™‚ but if I was a translated into a colour, I think it would be a bright green, because I’m always really positive and happy, and I’m quite loud and bold if you know me ๐Ÿ™‚

17. What superhero would you be?

I’d have to make one up… a superhero that flies around making everything fine and dandy and lovely for everyone. As clichรฉ and wannabe-american-pagent-queen as it sounds, I want world peace! Haha ๐Ÿ™‚

18. Which of the following categories do you thinkย forms your perceivedย identity? Age, Gender, Race, Beliefsย orย Sexuality?

Beliefs

19. Why?

Because beliefs really define you as a person. Everyone believes different things and this affects our daily life routine and our whole moral prospects. I think age, gender, race and sexuality are just too broad to distinguish if they define us as an individual human.

20. Do you look like what you are?

To be honest, I think so. I’ve got very deep smile lines, haha which proves I’m always happy and smiling! I’ve been really lucky with my teeth, I’ve never been to the dentist infact! They’re all straight and kinda perfect teeth, so they were built for laughing! I’ve got long dark brown hair with a choppy fringe and layers, which I’ve had done to personally suit ‘me’ and my style too ๐Ÿ™‚

THERE WE GOOOO ๐Ÿ™‚
